ToeNail Fungus
Toenail fungus can be a common and embarrassing condition, affecting one out of every 10 people. Now highly effective treatment for this common ailment is available in Canada. In February 2011, Health Canada cleared the Pin Pointe Foot Laser for the treatment of fungal toe nails after it passed their rigorous testing and shortly thereafter Dr. Troy became Canada’s first Certified Provider of this technology. He now treats patients throughout the Vancouver, BC, area - including White Rock, Delta, Surrey and Richmond.
The toenail laser is as pain-free as it is effective, producing barely more than a warming sensation in the treated toe. The laser Dr. Troy uses to attack toenail fungus emits a finely tuned wavelength that vaporizes the fungus where it lives under the nail.
Instead of relying on oral medications or topical creams, the toenail laser is direct, fast and effective. Treatment requires a short 40-minute appointment and an easy-to-follow post-treatment regimen, which is primarily aimed at avoiding coming in contact with high-risk environmental conditions that may harbor fungus. Before treatment, the patient’s nails are cleaned and trimmed. Then Dr. Troy meticulously passes the laser over each infected toenail, twice. The result is killing the toenail fungus wherever it may be hiding – under the leading edge of the nail, in the nail grooves or on the adjacent skin.
Follow-up appointments are scheduled for six months and 12 months after treatment to inspect the healing process and document the progress. Patients can start to see clearing at the toenail base in as little as two months.
This laser technology has been proven effective in as much as 90% of treated toenail fungus cases, and most often in only one treatment. Toenail fungus causes more than general unsightliness; it can be a true health concern in severe cases, in those with poor health or those who have Diabetes or circulatory conditions.
Contact Dr. Troy and his staff today to learn how this laser technology can effectively and quickly treat your case of toenail fungus. |
