Toenail Fungus Laser

In February 2011, Health Canada approved the use of a toenail fungus laser that has been proven effective in over 70,000 cases worldwide. In fact, in cases of mild infection, the toenail fungus laser cured approximately 90% of the patients. For those with a moderate infection, success was noted in 75% of the cases, and those who had severe infections of toenail fungus, success was found in 50% of the cases – all with just one treatment. These success rates far outweigh the 12% success rate found with topical creams, and, at best, a 70% success rate with taking oral medications for 3-6 months.

The toenail fungus laser Dr. Troy uses to treat patients in and around Vancouver, including Richmond, White Rock, Surrey and Delta, is a specialized piece of equipment that emits a highly focused energy beam through the nail plate and directly onto the fungus. The result is a vaporization of the toenail fungus, inhibiting it from growing or spreading to other nails, that is also without any pain or discomfort. At most, patients may feel a warming sensation on the toe, and absolutely no anesthesia is needed. Patients walk in and walk out of their appointments. They can go right back to their normal daily routine or work schedule, as no recovery period is needed.

Within four months, patients will see clearing at the base of their infected nails, and within a year the smaller nails will completely grow out into clear, healthy toenails.

The toenail fungus laser is a breakthrough in treatment technology. It is the result of over 20 years of research by dozens of scientists, and Dr. Troy is Canada’s first Pin Pointe Foot Laser Certified Provider for this procedure and one of its leading providers for Canadian citizens.
