Toe Nail Laser
The toe nail laser is a breakthrough in the treatment of fungal nails. It is a 100% drug-free procedure that is painless, fast and extremely effective, clearing toe nail fungus in up to 90% inmild cases. What better treatment option is there than one that carries none of the risks associated with oral antifungal medications, no anesthesia and allows you to return to work or physical activity immediately after treatment?
The toe nail laser used by Dr. Troy, the first Pin Pointe Foot Laser Certified Provider in Canada for this laser treatment, was thoroughly evaluated by Health Canada and was cleared for use in February 2011. Dr. Troy treats patients throughout British Columbia, including Vancouver, Delta, Surrey, White Rock and Richmond.
The way the toe nail laser works is by directing a specialized laser light through the toe nail that causes no pain or damage to the nail itself or surrounding skin, and which destroys the fungus where it lives. The toe nail will not clear instantly after treatment, but will clear as the nail grows out (often showing positive results in only two to four months). The procedure takes between 30-40 minutes and needs no recovery period. Patients simply walk in and walk out after treatment.
During a typical treatment process, Dr. Troy meticulously passes the toe nail laser beam over each infected toe nail. Each treated nail receives two passes with the toe nail laser, once across the nail and again in an up-and-down direction. These thorough passes cover the entire nail, from its leading edge and nail grooves, to the adjacent skin. No part of the toe nail is left untreated.
Post-treatment patients can go right back to their daily activities, but will need to following Dr. Troy’s recommendations to prevent reinfection of the toe nails. His steps include applying appropriate antifungal creams and sprays to one’s skin and shoes, as well as following good foot hygiene practices.
The toe nail laser is the true “next step” in treating toe nail fungal infections, and Dr. Troy is one of Canada’s leading providers of this treatment.
