Nail Fungus Laser

There is a newly cleared nail fungus laser now available throughout British Columbia (BC), including Vancouver and its surrounding metro areas (Delta, Surrey, White Rock and Richmond). The procedure is simple: a pulsed YAG laser designed to produce a specific wavelength/energy beam is directed over the infected toe nails by a highly-trained and certified care provider. This provider is Dr. Troy, Canada’s first Pin Pointe Foot Laser Certified Provider for the nail fungus laser treatment. After multiple passes with the laser, which does not cause pain and requires no recovery period, patients can start seeing their nails clear at the base in as little as 2-4 months.

This nail fungus laser treatment, while recently cleared for use by Health Canada in February 2011, has been used by professionals throughout the world in over 70,000 cases since November 2007. Its success rate speaks for itself – it is effective in up to 90% of treated patients. This makes the nail fungus laser more effective and safer than oral antifungal medications, and the treatment procedure is fast, only requiring a short 30-40 minute appointment.

After patients receive treatment with Dr. Troy’s nail fungus laser, they can immediately return to normal activities and work. However, it is important that they follow his simple steps to prevent  reinfection of the treated toe nails. Dr. Troy recommends using an antifungal cream on the top and bottom of the feet, and between the toes, twice a day for the first two weeks; then once a day thereafter. Spray one’s shoes with an antifungal spray at the end of each day, and be cognoscente of conditions that may harbor nail fungus and yeasts, such as whirlpools, hotel and athletic club showers and around swimming pools. It may also be necessary to keep toe nails professionally trimmed every six weeks after treatment.

The technology behind this advanced treatment comes from over 20 years of work by leading scientists and medical professionals. The nail fungus laser is drop the far more effective at treating fungal nail infections than any oral antifungal medication on market, and Dr. Troy is one of Canada’s leading care providers in this procedure.
